Vertigo Relief, Dizziness Relief, Dizzy, Meniere’s Relief, Vertigo, Dizziness, Meniere’s , Meniere’s Disease After 150 years of research, it has finally been revealed that the underlying cause of Meniere’s disease is not hydrops. Research continued when it was realized that hydrops (excess fluid in the inner ear) only exists for some Meniere patients. However, a factor that has been revealed hundreds of times in a modern study is an upper cervical misalignment. In fact, whiplash and head injuries seem to be the two most common underlying causes of Meniere’s.

The Merck Manual Has Not Caught Up Yet

Your average practitioner has no experience with a rare condition such as Meniere’s disease. Often a diagnosis is reached through ruling out other factors and consulting comprehensive medical guides such as the Merck Manal. Unfortunately, while the manual has added head or ear trauma to the list of potential Meniere’s risk factors, neck injuries such as whiplash are not included as of yet. This can make it difficult for an MD who is searching for hydrops to make a diagnosis when he really needs to be examining a patient history for injuries that occurred about 15 years ago.

Why 15 years? The study reveals that this is about the average amount of time it takes an upper cervical misalignment to cause a lesion on the Eustachian tube that results in Meniere’s disease. Unfortunately, most medical professionals will ignore an accident or an injury that occurred that far in the past when making a diagnosis.
